• About me and my vision of the world •

Hi. I'm a Dzūkaitė!

WHO AM I?

I'm happy to be living in my beloved homeland. After a bit of travelling around the world and Lithuania, I decided to come back and stay where my heart is.

A lot of water has flown since I graduated from Vilnius College with a degree in marketing. I also only discovered it on my second attempt. So I can only confirm that you have to be unafraid and keep trying until you finally succeed!

I've worked many different jobs in my life. You can imagine, I have even travelled with the Czech circus for their whole season in Lithuania and participated in their fire show. I am amazed by this work. And later, even in the office, I found it easy to diversify my work, creating benefits for the company and myself. So it's been a really colourful and winding road to this moment. I am very curious what tomorrow will bring.

How it all started

I've always been the kind of person who wanted to create something, to produce something, to realise something. It's hard for me to stand still. But I've never been sure what I could do that would not only make my soul happy, but also have potential. When I became a mother, out of a desire to have some tangible result at the end of the day, I finally discovered weaving.

Yes, yes, we all know that raising a child is a big job, but at the end of the day, next to the scattered toys and the wide smile of the little one, you want to know that something was done for more than just that moment.

In the beginning, I generally had maybe 10-15 free minutes a day, so I wove in the evenings and at night when the baby was asleep or just cuddled up to me in her carrier. Later, as the little princess grew up and learned to sleep without her mother, I found a little more time for my hobbies. And so the journey of "Dzūkaite" slowly began.

What lies ahead? It's hard to say. But one thing I do know is that weaving and handmade products have become a part of my life for good.

One of my biggest plans for this year was to open an online shop so that I can make it easier and simpler for others to discover ideas, to find products that have already been made, or to simply browse through the memories of my creations.

So far I have limited myself to macramé, natural cotton and braided pieces, but I should soon be able to offer handmade products in other techniques. Which should soon be born out of communion and familiarity in my native Dzūkija.

It is true that I have more responsibilities in my life - a job where I am very welcome, but I still can't go back. I believe that everything in life should follow its natural course. So let's stay together and see where life takes us.

NATRALNESS

I try to make sure that every product is made from the most natural materials possible. Especially those that often touch the body. Of course, there are some products, such as some of the table runners, which are made from cotton + synthetic cord for practicality and aesthetic reasons.

EVERYDAY IMPROVEMENT

There is no limit to perfection when it comes to handmade products. There is always room for improvement, always new ways to make things better, more beautiful, more aesthetically pleasing. That's what I'm trying to do - to improve every day and to keep growing, not only as a person, but also as a maker.

FULL

COMMITMENT

When I take on a new project, I give myself to it completely. It doesn't matter if I find time to weave in the morning, day or night. Whenever I create, I focus on the process and put only the best emotions into each knot. I believe that my little one will grow up seeing this example and appreciating the time and work that others put in.

ATTENTION TO DETAILS

It's important to me that every detail fits. That's why I choose my colours carefully and always try to match even the smallest details. If I have chosen silver rings in a product, the pendant must also be silver. If I put a clasp, it will also be silver. After all, it is the perfect match that gives the feeling of completeness.
